Funding: The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA)
Partners: UCLA Integrated Substance Abuse Programs (ISAP)
Program description: PSATTC works to increase collaboration, spread knowledge, and inform public policy related to drug and alcohol treatment across California and Arizona. Its goal is to expand the the availability of effective treatment and recovery services for individuals with alcohol and drug problems in a culturally competent manner. It accomplishes this goal through development of training, events, and products related to substance abuse treatment; information dissemination; workforce development; curriculum development; and technical assistance to service providers.
CABHP's Role: CABHP does all of the work of the PSATTC in Arizona, while ISAP serves California. We develop and deliver agency-specific curricula that teach professionals how to apply proven techniques in their field. Our clients include the Arizona Department of Corrections, The Department of Children Youth and Families, and the Department of Behavioral Health Services, among others. We also provide general curriculum, available on the web site, and hold conferences and institutes for behavioral health professionals, including the annual Summer Institute in Sedona, Arizona. Some of the treatment methods we teach are Motivational Interviewing, Cultural Competency, Integrated Treatment for Co-Occurring Disorders, Methamphetamine Treatment, and Community Reinforcement.
