Minority Substance Abuse & HIV/Hepatitis C Prevention

Partners: TERROS Behavioral Health Services and six community organizations
Program description: TERROS offers culturally sensitive and gender appropriate services to prevent substance abuse and the transmission of HIV and hepatitis among minority populations in the Phoenix-Mesa area. Over a five-year period, TERROS will combine SAMHSA's Strategic Prevention Framework with local planning and service delivery.
CABHP's Role: CABHP has worked with Terros to create and implement a five step process: (1) a community-based needs assessment, (2) capacity building among service providers (training), (3) development of a culturally appropriate strategic plan, (4) design and implementation of an evidence-based prevention program and any related infrastructure (a data management system and portal) and (5) regular evaluations of process and outcomes, using interviews and data collection and analysis.
