The Center for Applied Behavioral Health Policy engages in an array of projects and initiatives aimed at developing new approaches and strategies to address substance use and mental health issues.

Accountable to those we serve, the Center for Applied Behavioral Health Policy offers the public easy access to the results of its various projects and initiatives.

  • Projects: See what CABHP is doing now to find lasting solutions to pressing challenges facing families and communities.
    • The Criminal Justice Drug Abuse Treatment Studies 2 (CJ-DATS 2): Funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH), CJDATS-2 is a five-year collaborative research project involving nine research centers from across the country to develop organizational or systems-wide changes relating to substance abuse treatment interventions for those involved with the criminal justice system.
    • Arizona Citizen Review Panel Program (CRPP): In partnership with Arizona Department of Economic Securityy, Division of Children, Youth and Families, CABHP coordinates three statewide panels that develop recommendations for improvement to the child welfare system in Arizona.
    • Arizona Families F.I.R.S.T.: Evaluates the process and outcomes of an interagency initiative designed to meet the needs of child welfare involved families where parental substance abuse is a causative factor.

  • Research Reports: Learn about the results and implications of ongoing and past CABHP efforts.
    • Arizona Families F.I.R.S.T. (AFF) Annual Evaluation Reports: Recognizing substance abuse as a key contributing factor in child abuse and neglect, AFF targets Arizona families entering the child welfare system to provide better access to treatment and return children more quickly to a safer, healthier home environment.
